They don't. If they can prove racial purity and qualify for a treaty number they will be assigned or be from a tribe with assigned traditional homelands (which they claim is only a fraction of their proper traditional homelands) and be assigned a Band. Even if they move and live in the city they still hold that status, but they like all of us only live in one place at a time. Though many places will claim us for tax purposes.
