If you are referring to day to day lodge business it is not made public for the same reasons that I do not make the details of running our family home public; it is nobody's business outside of my family.

If you are referring to our rituals, there is no real reason to keep them secret except for the psychological one that by being a part of a group with a secret (rituals, handshakes) to protect tends to provide a sense of belonging. In many ways it is no different than rituals associated being on a football team.
