Because they feel it disagrees with a literal interpretation of Genesis......they will say that evolution has no scientific evidence to support it and try to come up with arguments against it, but the bottom line is they just don't WANT to believe it, and so reject it at face value.

Everything you need to know about evolution?

The study of evolution is a lifetime occupation for many scientists, but what most people need to know is that evolution is the process of change by which primitive early species developed into more complex ones. It is the process by which all life forms, that we know today, emerged.

Why are fossils of intermediate life forms likely to be rare if the pattern of punctuated equilibrium explains how evolution occurs?

Intermediate species forms, yes. A the taxa level, no. Still, not all taxa evidence is supportive of punctuation and stasis. Punctuated equilibrium is only one explanation of how evolution occurs in some species, not all species. The little shellies evidence gradualist processes very well.

Why would fundamentalists have a problem with the theory of evolution?

Answer 1The main reason is that fundamentalists interpret Genesis literally, and when taken literally, the creation account in Genesis does not fit with evolution. One of the basic purposes of religion has been to explain where the human race comes from and why we are here on Earth. Darwin's theory of evolution seems to offer a different explanation than the one offered in the book of Genesis. Some people have concluded that the religious explanation is no longer needed since the scientific explanation is better, although there are others (such as the evolutionary biologist Stephen Jay Gould) who have said that science does not replace religion since they deal with different aspects of reality, and are not in competition. Fundamentalists oppose the theory of evolution because they think that it undermines belief in the bible.Answer 2Whether Fundamentalist or otherwise, there are serious practical problems with evolution [Period]Just one example is the recent discovery of Kinesiologist, Denis Towers, that groundsnakes present as the complete antithesis of Man - homo sapiens - both, FUNCTIONAL-anatomically and behaviourally.Surely, this simple discovery alone, suggests that for this to be the case, a great Mastermind deliberated this creative outcome. That implies problems for atheistic views. For theists and fundamentalists, on the other hand, it implies the possible reality of the Adam-serpent experience related in the Creation account of the Holy Bible, as the suggestion is that when God subsequently cursed all things, including the serpent, following the Eve-serpent encounter, He created Man and the snake in a manner that depicted that momentous event of "Opposition" causing the changing of relations between God, man and beast. So, just this simple discovery, alone, creates its own set of problems for evolutionists.
