Peat moss allows a soil a greater ability to not just hold water, but to hold it in a way that it's available to plant roots. If a soil is too clay, it will hold water but not give it up. If a soil is too sandy, water drains away too quickly.
Add acid. Peat moss is a good one.
lime water
the ideal ratio is 1:1 or equal amount. Use vermiculite as the main, then add the moss around the rocks like a filler and scatter a bit more here and there.
To increase the moisture content and retention of your soil, you should add organic components such as peat moss or loam. If the weather has been dry, you may need to water the area, such as with a sprinkler system or a hose. It's more difficult to determine soil moisture by yourself without any device help, so you have to use soil moisture sensors - To know more about it just visit here - http://hornetcentral.com.au/turf/installation/
ofcourse.humidity add moisture in the soil......

they add fertility to the soil
lime water
Sphagnum moss, also known as peat mosses is just like dirt. When you add water to peat moss it grows way bigger. It just not change color just in size. I hope this helped you understand more about sphagnum moss.
calcium chloride
they do that be cause it it it like food for the plant.
People add moss to a garden to help hold on to the soil making it easier for other plants to survive.
The Earthworms make the soil porous and add to its fertility, hence these help the gardners.
Peat adds acid. So, if you need to add acid to your soil, you want to use something with peat. We added peat to our blueberry plantings. If you don't need the acid, then get the peat-free stuff. Peat based compost,as the name suggests, contains peat. Peat free compost does not contain peat but some other organic matter. This excercise is driven by the Green lobby who fear that the planet will run out of peat and implode.
Peat is excellent for improving the structure of your soil, it will add body to a sandy soil and help break up a hard compacted soil. Its only draw back is that it has a very low PH so always apply plenty of lime when using it unless you already have a soil that is high in PH (7 or above). Cheers, Barry.
They can test the soil for its acidity and alkalinity and either correct the pH level or grow plants that are appropriate. They can test the levels of nutrient in the soil and add appropriate fertilising material.
