Why do guys contact you after they breakup then months go by and they stop when said to keep in touch?

Could be too painful for them to see you, or they only talked to you out of habit and missed you. Once they stop missing you, they feel they have no reason to keep in touch. Rarely can guys and girls be friends unfortunately, without one wanting more than friendship.
