horses fight for dominance, in their herd, they always want to be the leaders, and some times they fight each other for the right to rule their herd. If your horse doesn't respect you, then they may even fight you for dominance, which is never a good thing.

Of course horses bite! Mostly only when their iritated!

THIS IS JY- Yes, I agree with the person above but I do have something more to add. Horses don't usually bite, only when they have problems in their mouth, or they are really angry. Some horses bite for fun, some horses bites gently to tell you something is wrong, some horses nips on your hands, or body to smell you clearly. But the most dangerous bites are the ones from the wild, they might not mean to hurt you but they are scared and don't know what to do at the same time so they bite you and run away.

It is a self defense or if they don't want to be disturbed or annoyed.

Horses can bite because they get bored, and they sometimes nip. They just get really annoyed.Sometimes horses bite because of the past they have had. Or sometimes they are plain naughty it all depends.

Its their natural intinct to be safe, same with people. Horses will run or fight. most of the time they will run away. if there isn't enough room, say in a pasture..... they may resort to showing their teeth, biting kicking, rearing, or bucking.
