Because they are hungry.
No you can't because horses are grazing all the time throughout the day, and only eating small amounts at a time. So when you give them grass cuttings they are eating far much more grass as when they are grazing so their digestive system can't handle all the grass at one time, and it will most probably give them colic, and then they may die.
Horses eat lots of things like: grass, hay, haylage, fruit & veg normally carots and apples. You also feed your horse horse feed but you have to choose the right one to suit your horses size, weight and how much they work.
Any breed can eat grass, many breeds tho r more suseptable to colic or laminitis from eating too much grass. Especially spring grass that has the most nutrients at the roots and the early spring grass as it grow is easy for a horse to eat too much.
No
In the wild, horses spend about 17 hours grazing everyday. However, if they are stabled, then they cannot graze, unless they are turned out and it is unlikely they are turned out for at least 17 hours (unless they live on 24/7 turnout, but im talking about stabled horses). Stabled horses are usually fed 3 or 4 meals a day, with hay throughout the day. The hay is very important as it keeps the digestive system going throughout the day and, for this reason, horses must have some kind of forage, whether is it hay, grass or haylage. Horses can suffer from gastric ulcers if they do not have the chance to eat forage. Hope I've helped!
What ever you give them and what ever grass they can eat!
they eat a lot of grass everyday, so the fibre in the grass (im not sure how much there is) is what makes them poop so much.
Depends on how much space, money and time you have to spend on them.
Horses get fat on grass when they eat too much or it. Grass is the primary food they were designed to eat. It has all the nutrients and calories they need. Overeating makes everyone fat.
Grass. Grass is essential in a horses diet. Aflalfa is a good source of protein, but horses don't need it in excess. Too much alfalfa can result in stones in the stomach that require surgery to remove. A small bit of alfalfa mixed with normal grass, like Bermuda can be good. usually is alfalfa but grass mix with alfalfa is the best for horses.
