In a 1997 Lincoln Continental : To the right of your headlight switch in the dash is a ( panel dim ) switch I believe if that is turned all the way up then the interior lights will come on

Should be in the main fuse block. Look for a fuse labeled "courtesy".

Try turning them off. This is done with the dimmer control of the dash lights.

Hi, A friend had the same ploblem with his 2001 Lincoln Continental. The lights on the keypad and interior lights would randomly turn on. The problem was a defective keypad water was shorting the switch.

try pushing the headlight switch in......works with 1999 Lincoln Towncar

Yes, all electrical components are fused.

The lights come on because of a damaged keypad. Either replace the keypad assembly or disconnect it and use the transmitter for entry and trunk access. The keypads on this model are particularly proned to malfunction when tampered with by way of vandalism to discover the number combination.

The interior lights may sometime stay on due to accumulation of dirt in each door latch. Clean out all 4 door latches and remove grit. You can use silicone or WD40. To much WD40 will cause additonal dirt to accumulate so use sparingly. This will repair the door adjar error and allow the interior lights to work correctly. This is common on all 1995-2002 Lincoln Continentals and cleaning the door latch area will clean the sensor.

The door latch grounds itself to chassis ground when closed. your problem involves a little corrosion in and around the latch. The simple fix is to spray a good amount of WD-40 on all door latches. It worked on my 10998 Lincoln

interior fuse is located in engine compartment in fuse panel marked memory 15amp. fuse.

More then likely there is a short in the keypad on the drivers door. your vehicle is set for a timed lights out, do the lights go out agter a certain time if you sit there and watch it? if so there's a timer set which is mostlikley the case , haller back if you find the answer to see if im correct, it should say "auto lamp" on the dash.

how to get the interior lights to turn on on 2003 oldsmobile silhouette

Check the fuse box in the engine compartment, also you need to check the lights itself. You might have to replace it.

There's a solinoid in the transmission.Suggest to check that first. Turn on interior lights. Start engine. If the lights go out when the engine stalls, you have a bad ignition switch.

Make sure that the interior light intensity knob didn't go all the way up because there is a point where it goes from "high" to the "on" position. You can feel it as you raise the intensity when it clicks over to on. This will keep your interior lights on.

If its a series 2 (roughly 1998 - 2004) the interior lights shut themselves off after about a minute. If the engine is running and you shut the door and reopen it the lights will come back on. If the engine is off the lights will not come on when you reopen the door - you'll have to turn the key on first * On the 96 Disco you can turn off the interior light by moving the headliner lamp switch (3 position)to the off position.
