The BSA offers youth a chance to experience the outdoors in ways that would other ways not be available. Scouting also sharpens you leadership skills, and Eagle Scout looks really good on your resumé.

To joins the BSA ("Boy Scouts") you must be a boy who is 11 years old, or one who has completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and is at least 10 years old, but is not yet 18 years old. There is another progam, Venturing, for people who are a little older, from 14-21. Cub Scouts usually start in the first grade.
Adult females can be Boy Scout leaders and females aged 14-21 can be Venture scouts, which is a part of the BSA. Scouting ages females cannot join the Boy Scouts.
