It's a great show. It's like the same reason about spongebob squarepants. It's awsome. It's every kids' dream to have their every wish granted. I think that's the appeal of the show.
It's also consistent, so familiarity can certainly be a factor in its appeal.
Fairly Odd-Parents is also fairly positive in what little character development they can provide for a short-subject cartoon series(each episode is less than 15 minutes long)...especially in their portrayal of Timmy with his Godparents as an *actual* family that has even successfully introduced a new member with his little god-brother Poof :)
