Edit: Spiders that carry babies on their backs do so because they are hunters. Some spiders don't make webs; instead of building a trap and waiting, they ambush and capture their prey. The safest place for babies with no sac or web, is close to their mother, where they can be fed and kept safe.

Many varieties of spider do this, in many different countries. One example is the huge Goliath Spider, that lives in the rainforests of Brazil and is one of the largest spiders known- but there are many other sorts that do as well, from tiny ones right up to big bird-eating spiders and tarantulas.
