According to Microsoft, a majority of issues that came out early after the release of Vista had to do with spotty availability of drivers for hardware, along with some very problematic drivers released for Nvidia video cards. This left an extremely negative view in the public about the stability of Windows Vista. Since then, many of the early issues regarding unstability have been resolved. However, it seems that first impressions last, and Vista is still perceived as a "failed" product. Vista has many more capabilities in rendering user interfaces, though this comes at the cost of needing more powerful computer hardware to get the most out of the experience. This means that to move to the new operating system often means a move to a new computer, which has a much higher cost.

Like other versions of Windows, Vista takes some getting used to. However, it does provide upgrades over the much-loved XP and is very user-friendly.

Windows XP and Windows 7 is the two most popular operating systems from Microsoft. XP is the oldest of the two, and Vista was in between. The differences are a lot and changes has been done on all sides of the system. Visual, Drivers, Performance and much more. Many users held on you XP for 10 years, skipped Vista and upgraded to W7, since XP isn't supported by Microsoft from summer 2014(delayed over and over) and Vista is in many eyes a unpolished version of W7 pre released to compete with other similar operating systems.
It depends who you ask.
Over 2,000 developers worked on the original Windows Vista that was released on February 22, 2006. There have been thousands of developers who have helped create the five additional editions of Windows Vista since then.
This is a matter of preference and opinion. Some users will prefer one over the other. It depends on your individual needs and preferences.
