well let me tell you "rather and prefer" means the same so you are gonna use prefer in two ways. you can use "to + infinitive verb" or an -ing form after prefer you can say: examples: I prefer to eat a salad or I prefer eating and rather you just use it whit a verb whitout to or an -ing form I rather go the park I rather sit down
Rather is an adverb, not a verb.If you say I would rather..., it means I would prefer..., but, although prefer is a verb, ratheris not.
