They're gangsters, man. They do what the 'F' they want. Never test a moray eel. Never.
First, I think you meant moray eels (sorry I had to point that out). There are many reasons why moray eels hide in corals. The main reason is because that's their hunting style. They hide in between crevices until a prey swims by and the eel ambush it, getting it's meal. Also another reason is because moray eels are often nocturnal predators, so they rest in the crevices of corals to rest.
From it's predators.
they hide from hunters
to survive in the ocean, sea urchins always scurry away on their tube-like feet and hide in cracks and crevices. ( but of course they have to make sure their is no moray eels in there first!)
They hide under rocks and corals
Pretty sure that eels hide in crevices and wait for fish to swim by, followed by a lightning-fast lunge to grab the prey.
Female moray eels deposit eggs into a well hidden spot in the water. Then, she releases an scent that tells the male the eggs are ready for sperm. When Moray Eels enter mating season, they repeatedly open and close their mouths to signify the beginning of the cycle. They are primarily monogamous, but groups with three members mating are common as well. They reproduce by coiling and uncoiling around each other for the duration of a few hours, give or take, depending on species. Moray eels are generally hermaphroditic from birth, being born with both male and female genitalia; or they can also be born a certain gender and change as they see fit. For instance, if there are too many females in an area, a female might change to a male in order to reproduce. ( This doesn't include a small group of eels that are not either hermaphroditic or able to change gender. )
Get a small piece of plastic pipe and aim it towards your eels hide. Drop the food through it to the eels. They will be more alert at night which is a good time to feed them.
Because the fish probably hide in the corals when they hear a signal.
A natural ocean shelter is an ocean reef. A reef is a good place for small fish to hide from predators because they can hide in the plants and corals. Other ocean shelters are trenches that have caves and crevices where fish can hide.
