Ok, in your brian their is a section that controls sleep, this part of you brian is called your cirybril (not right spelling) cortex. it also governs alot of other functions. It will know when to let you aleep due to cercadian (check spelling) rythms. When you get used to sleeping at a certain time of day your cortex is used to those rythms. When you go overseas then the rythms hav stayed the same while the time of day has changed and so it takes a while for your cortex to get used to that, therefore causing jet lag. Yours truly Marc Kruger P.S: I am 15, are you not entertained!
because they can not see at day! take us for example, we sleep at night because it is harder for us to see at that time. nocturnal (meaning of the night) animals sleep at night because they can't see in the daylight!
In time gone by people slept through the darkness as they could not see to hunt or function. As we have evolved and synthetic light was created people were able to work in the dark hours and tehrefore through the night. many people around the world now work through dark hours
Most people sleep at night and not during the day because humans, like all other primates, are diurnal (active during daylight) not nocturnal (active at night ).

it depends on what animal you are talking about because nocturnal animals sleep in the day and hunt in the night and some don't sleep at all.
Some factors influencing an animal's adaptation to a nocturnal lifestyle include temperature and predation. Firstly, in hot areas, animals may choose to come out at night to avoid strong heat from the sun during the day and to minimize water lost through sweating and evapouration (especially in dry climates). Secondly, animals may choose to come out at night in order to evade predators that hunt under daylight. Also, in special cases, animals could be nocturnal because the food that they eat are most abundantly available at night.
An animal that sleeps during the day and is active at night is called nocturnal. Examples include most rodents, most bats, and the big cats. An animal that is most active around dawn or dusk is crepuscular.
Most animals do sleep but different animals require different amounts of sleep, sometimes they are either up all day or up all night.
