If they are double paned windows and there is mist on the inside between the 2 pieces of glass then you have a bad seal and they should be replaced. If there is condensation on the inside or the outside then there is a significant difference in the temperature from the outside of the home to the inside. It works just like a soda can when you take it out of the frige in a warm day. It is normal.

You will need to remove the entire glass dual-pane section and take it to a professional window glazier. If you can do this feat you will save on two service calls and the labor to remove the misted windows. Otherwise, call a local window manufacturer with a service department and make arrangements for them to come out and remove/repair/re-install the dual pane panel. This cannot be done on-sight, but back at the service department of the glazier. At the shop, they will remove the gasket around the inside edges of the window frame, including the two panes of glass. The gasket holds the two panes in place in the window frame. They will then install a new gasket and your now cleaned old panes with some vacuum equipment-which should work and insulate as new. The cause of the misting is a leak in the seal in this gasket, which has allowed moisture borne in air to enter between the panes and condense on them. Unfortunately, that condensation doesn't completely evaporate away in the sunlight. Before going to this trouble and expense, remember that many advances have been made in window/heat loss/insulation technologies in the past ten years. You might be wise to query the window vendor/repair company about the cost of installing a whole new window with triple pane, gas filled, low E glass panes. Compare that cost and estimated efficiencies of much lower 'heat loss' to the cost to repair with that estimated heat loss. Is there a better pay back to step up in quality. You might be surprised! Let us know what you discover, will you?

What can be found at the website UPVC Double Glazing?

The unique design of double-glazed products insulates against heat and cold up to four times more effectively than single-glazed windows and doors. The space between the two panes of glass acts as a thermal barrier between your home and the outside environment. There are advantages and disadvantages of single glazed windows. The main advantage is the lower cost compared to double or triple glazing.

Can double glazed windows explode?

I can tell you only my experience. I was in a school and they had a faulty double glazed window I went up to it and pressed lightly on it. Next thing I know I hear a loud bang and then I had a chunk of glass in my arm, a small bit in my eyelid and little tears and shreds over my arms. So from that experience I would say yes they could or they become deceptively weak so if you got bad windows get em replaced and save a hospital trip. All the best Genuinely unlucky accident man

Why use double glazing?

Double glazing helps improve energy efficiency in the home as it is has superior heat insulator properties to a single pane window. Double glazed windows usually carry the beenfit of being fitted with excellent anti-burglar locks which are recognised by insurance companies in the UK. The standard for double glazed windows is Pilkington K Glass which is manufactured in Italy. The benefits of double glazing are simple; double glazing saves you money, reduces your energy bills and reduces your carbon footprint. Save money on energy bills by replacing all the single glazed windows in your home with energy efficient glazing. This could save you around £135 per year on your energy bills. Reduce your carbon footprint by cutting down on the energy used to heat your home because less heat is escaping through your windows. You will generate less carbon dioxide (CO2) which is what leads to global warming. Be more comfortable in your home as energy efficient double glazing reduces heat loss through windows and means fewer draughts and cold spots. More peace and quiet because as well as keeping the heat in, energy efficient double glazed windows can insulate your home against unwanted outside noise. Reduce condensation beccause energy efficient double glazing reduces condensation build-up on the inside of windows. The costs and savings of double glazing will be different for each home and each window, depending on the size, material and installer. But on average fitting double glazing to your home can save around £135 a year on your heating bills, in addition to saving around 720kg of CO2 (carbon dioxide).

What feature of double glazed windows makes them good insulators?

Double-glazing can reduce heat loss through windows by up to 50%. 20mm is the optimum space between the 2 panes of glass; less than this leads to increased heat loss; more than this makes little difference to the level of thermal insulation but does give improved sound insulation.
