Because it is all about social control. When a person is paranoid they are in fear of themselves. Most paranoid people have a lack in social interaction and are less likely to miss-achieve in life.

An example:

a group of friends at a high school are laughing about a joke, one group member does not find it funny. They would now become paranoid about the situation and try to divert the conversation to another subject.

The Problems:

Paranoid people may first become paranoid when they suffer something major in life, if they have money issues, or home issues, then they may become paranoid with things relating to that. Paranoia is one of the main cases of suicide in Europe.

The symptoms:

-High case in 'Daydreaming'

-Emotionless faces at times.

-Highly paranoid over human contact.

-Lack in apperance.

-Difficult to create conversation

-And hard to understand certain things.

-Lack of concentration.

Some are and some aren't.

Paranoia and paranoid delusions tend to happen most frequently in bipolar people when they are very manic in conjunction with delusions of grandeur. While having delusions of grandeur a common belief is that you are infallible and can make no mistakes, in this state any hesitancy by others to believe your ideas immediately (they are so obviously correct to you) tends to be interpreted as willful opposition to you and your "perceived truth" which frequently manifests as paranoia against those people.
