A stye eye a small, reddish bump located on the eye's lining (where eyeliner is usually applied on the bottom of the eye). It is caused my oil blockage in the eye or the effect of dirt that wasn't properly cleaned out of the eye.

Styes are caused by bacteria. The bacteria irritate an eyelid oil gland making it inflamed, red and tender. This bacterium is often found in the nose, and it's easily transferred to the eye by rubbing first your nose, then your eye. It can also be from makeup; using other people's eyeliner and mascara or not taking your makeup off at night.

If you look closely there are little holes along your eyelid and when one of those holes gets clogged than the liquid stuff builds up until there is to much pressure and it expands and blows out of the hole then it flows normally. Why they say put a hot compress on it is because heat expands things so it expands and leaves sooner.

Stye is most commonly found in eyes because a stye is caused by oil-clogged pores and your eyes are the easiest to clog. ESPESSIALLY for girls because if they use someone else's eyeliner, then their eyes' oil will get in yours and the oil will give you a stye.

What happens if you pop a stye in your eye?

No! Do not even try to do this!If you attempt popping the stye, you will either hurt the sensitvie eye skin or infect the stye. In order to get rid of the stye, carefully cut a peice of garlic unil you can see the wet part, then SLOWLY rub it on your stye. This method has been used for centuries. It really works! Apply 3-4 times a day until the stye is gone. MUST BE CONSISTENT. Doing it randomly one or two times won't help. But be careful, if the garlic gets INSIDE your eye it will BURN. *just an addition - if you don't trust garlic use hot water to damp a rag apply for 15mins several times a day.
