When there is a good snow pack in the winter they are full and in running in the spring, but this year our snow pack is very small so the falls will not be as spectator as they could be. You will see tons of granite in Yosemite National Park and while on Half Dome. The granite is actually has quite a good grip, as long as there is no gravel and the rock is not wet. Much of the rock on Half Dome has been eroded, so is actually fairly smooth while still being a bit rough because of the uneven weathering of the surface.
