Because they have a water supply for crops and drinking, washing etc. and rivers are often also used for transport. Add to this the possibility that the current of the water can be used for operating padlewheels that run machinery living next to a river was far more attractive proposition. Many rivers have flood plains that are regularly revitalised by fresh silt keeping soil fertile for the production of food. And if you live in a modern city, rivers are good to be near because they can be beautiful and a source of recreation.

What to do about nasty neighbor?

Ignore them as much as possible. If they are harassing you, or breaking laws, call the Police. Many places now have Community Relations Officers, who will arbitrate disputes, like barking dogs, loud parties etc. Most neighbors will setle down if they know they have been pegged as potential troublemakers. If they are damagimg your property, document everything, including dates and times, damage done and any witnesses , and file in small claims court. Try to avoid this if possible, as this will usually only provoke nasty neighbors to worse nastiness.

How are the shock absorbers tested for replacement?

The Four "Criteria" That cause a recomendation to replace or an Inspection failure in some cases. 1st Mileage, Most shops will recomend replacment at a set mileage. Our shop avoids this as most retail customers can not feel the diference and feel as if they have been ripped off. 2nd Oil leakage, If the component leaks oil it fails and should and may be required to be replaced 3rd Rust, if the body of the companent is rusted, it fails 4th Function testing. The body of the automobile is bounced by hand and once the bouncing is stoped the car should setle with out any further bounces. If it continues to move the Shockabsorber fails.
