Why are people polluting our water?

Reasons for river pollution are: * Failure of governments to enact and enforce strong anti-pollution laws * Failure to develop a culture that values clean water over other economic considerations * Failure to train farmers in proper land use techniques * Failure to fund municipal WWTP projects (Sewers and waste treatment) Rivers are polluted by:

* Urban development dumping untreated sewage and storm water * Erosion from farmland * Spills from shipping * Agricultural run-off (pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, amanure) * Illegal dumping * Indiscriminate discharge of untreated wastewater from industries, domestic settlements * Indiscriminate disposal of garbage, solid wastes directly into rivers * (In underdeveloped countries) Disposal of unburnt dead human bodies, animal carcass, etc. in rivers * (In underdeveloped countries) Direct discharge o sanitary waste into the river O * Indiscriminate quarrying of sand, rock and other minerals in river beds

* Runoff from pollutants (paint, chemicals, rotting organic material) leaching out of landfill * Sewage discharged into rivers instead of being treated properly

* Polluted water discharged from factories * Oil and petroleum leaks from vehicles washed off the road by the rain into the surrounding habitat * Chemical fertiliser runoff from farms and crops * Acid rain (fumes from factories mixing with rain)

Lol its funny... because after all of my research they do not say why regular people do it. lol

But with factories it is cheaper if it is located near a water supply rather than hiring garbage trucks...

Because they are simply to lazy to walk or travel a bit further to dispose the rubbish properly. Instead of travelling to dispose the rubbish properly, they just go to the closes river and throw it there.
