Most dogs seem to be mild-mannered, they can provide company, and they can protect you. Most can get along with kids and it doesn't cost much to take care of them. Dogs also don't require lots of care. You just have to feed them, take them for walks, and give them baths.

Why not? People name their dogs all sorts of names. Names are what the owners want them to be. Some pet owners prefer common names while some choose to get creative.
A dog because dogs are more loving and won't claw you. It's your choise! (I prefer a kitty, cuz you don't have to take it outside to poop or take it on walks.)
