I don't think many people think gorillas are "vicious". Maybe on TV shows it is more entertaining to show a gorilla charging at the camera thinking his friends are in danger. From reading about the lives of gorillas they seem to spend most of their time napping, eating and grooming each other...they even make friends with the humans who observe them after a while.
