Why do people think its better to baptise people when there adults rather than babies?

Because babies cannot make the decision of choosing God or not. They do not know God and his love for us. When we are older, we can choose. However, kids do get saved. Being saved is telling a church figure that we believe in God and that he died for us.

∙ 14y agoJoining a religious institution as an adult (aka baptism, in most religions) will allow the individual to choose whether the type of religion is best suited for him. Contrary to infantile baptism, adult initiation into a religion provides a more worldly view of the many different religions.

∙ 11y agoThe Bible often presents baptism in a "believer's baptism" context. "Believe and be baptized". Also, wather baptism is a kind of a coming out event for Christians. It is an outward declaration and sign of an inward cleansing. A teen or adult can make the decision to be baptized with the cognitive understanding of what it means to identify with Christ as a true believer in him--in his death, burial, and resurrection. Acts 8:35-38 also seems to stress the need for one to truly believe before being baptised. When the Ethiopian offcial asks Phillip if he can be baptised, Phillip responds by saying: "If you believe with all your heart you may." Infant baptism is more of a covenantal promise between parents and God regarding Christian intentions because at the time of baptism, the infant has no clue what is going on.
