Why do people think the world is going to end?

A:Some people seem to have a morbid fascination with expectations of an imminent end of the world, ranging from interpretation of the Mayan calendar to the widely anticipated second coming of Jesus. Almost every year there is a new prediction of the end of the world, but each time it fails to happen. Christians have been predicting or, if you prefer, prophesying the end of days for two thousand years and no doubt will for the next two thousand years, as long as Christianity survives. None of this will happen.
