Some of the symptoms of sleep apnea would be waking unrested, coughing while sleeping, snoring, dry throat, small amounts of gasping from stopping breathing for a short time.
Can it be you are snoring? Normally this happens when you lay on your back. There is not a lot you can do about it, if this would be the reason. You should go and see your doc, just in case it might be soemthing else.

Rhinos don't sleep underwater, but hippos do, they rise to the surface and breath at regular intervals without waking.
First Waking Breath is a three piece rock band that hails out of Temecula, CA. With their explosive live energy and excellent live performance, First Waking Breath has impressed audiences from Georgia to California. Their music is loud, heavy, and aggressive with hints of rock, pop, punk, and metal. The vocals are unique and melodic, yet very controlled. It is definitely worth giving them a listen. You can check out their new mp3's, show dates, and merch info on the bands official myspace page. www.myspace.com/firstwakingbreath

This question might be asking why it is sometimes difficult to breathe when you have a bad dream, or why you sometimes awaken gasping for breath after a bad dream. The reason is that the bad dream triggers your body's physical reaction to danger or fear just as a real waking experience would do. The emotions in the dream cause the release of the "fight or flight" hormone adrenaline which in turn increases your breathing and heart rate. These responses are entirely natural and quite normal.
why would you want to do that? well if you want to know my tip is don't breath loudly when you get close to her. hope that helps!
