Not all did, at first most people thought Charles was a good king but he didn't have the common touch and was considered a bit to aloof from his people they also thought he had Catholic sympathies, which he did, then when he married a Catholic and tried to raise a tax so he could go and mess about in European religious wars his popularity went into free fall.
