Religious people "go crazy" for the same reasons that secular people go crazy. The problem is related to mental health, not religion.
As above: it's about mental health. Having said that, if a person goes crazy and also has a dogmatic zeal about something (religion, communism, whatever) then their crazy actions are going to be targetted towards and increased by the teachings of that dogma. So you'll hear about religious crazy people murdering doctors, or homosexuals or whatever. It was the religion which picked their targets for them. A non-religous crazy person would have picked targets for different reasons.
