Any friction is due to the:

1, Area of contact.

2. Type of material

3. Force applied.

In any roller friction the area of contact is minimized by the rollers however with high velocity the force of gravity exerts on the wheels to generate friction. When the coasters come down from the hill sections the friction is maximum as the opposing gravity forces acts on the moving kinetic force.
