There are several reasons scientists would believe Astrology is untrue. First of all, there is no proof or theory on why astrology should work. Also, it sounds unrealistic that you could know a person's personality simply based on the date they were born. Science says that things such as parental figures, home life, setting, and atmosphere of life has the main influence on your personality. Another, smaller reason is twins. Often twins are very different. These are just some of the reasons.

Because there is no way of verifying the claims that are made. While it is certainly possible that the location of the stars and planets can have an affect on someone's life, there is no possible experiment that can prove or disprove the idea. It would require that the subjects be completely isolated from any other possible influence in their lives. It would be impossible to set a control and the very act of observation will affect the results of the experiment.
