Correction only some depend of krill. Like whales. Here's what a whale would say to you "Why do humans depend on food?Sleep?Water?" because we all have to live. It's a circle of life. Krill don't fight back, they're easy to catch and they are not a big hassle to digest. It is likely that larger animals like whales have weak digestive systems, unlike crocodiles. So if they eat large bony animals such as orcas, seals and penguins, their stomach acids would not digest the bones, therefore clogging it's intestines to keep nutrients from passing through and causing the animal to choke to death. This might also answere why mamal predators like lions and orcas only eat a small portion of their kills while scavengers like sharks and crocodiles can symply eat the whole thing.
When learning about sea animals it is important to know the food chain. Animals like penguins, whales, and seals eat krill in the Southern Ocean.
