Slugs and other gastropods use a specialized muscle as their only means of movement. They send ripples down their bellies in order to move. This is effective for pushing the animal forward and keeping a good grip but cannot provide much speed.

they move slow because, they don't have their shell yet for ex: Snail have shells and they move much faster than slugs, probably because they have shells.
