To control population growth and to prevent weaker animals from breeding.
It is a natural thing for animals to eat other animals.

The food chain is a main part of this. Although not all animals eat other animals, the ones who do need food to survive on anything they can.

Because they sometimes run out of food and also they get hungry.... :P

If the world is abundant in resource then probably all organism don't need a competition (and probably little evolution would progress since the time). In fact, the area of the world is limited, habitable area is even limited, food supply is also limited. For animals or any organism to stay alive they have to be better at competing each other.

Animals are born with certain natural instincts that allow them to survive in the wild. It is an animal's natural instinct to forage, to provide them with the food they need to survive during the colder winter months, when food is not readily available.
