Well, I don't think that there is any country where 100% of the people speak one language. There are different people and different cultures in all countries, and people travel and re-locate, and you can usually find people who speak many languages no matter where you are. However, in terms of an "official" language... some countries only have one for a couple of reasons. One reason is purely financial. It costs a LOT of money to publish everything in two languages. Another reason is the Demographics of the country. If almost all of your citizens speak the same language, then that tends to be the official language. Some countries are less diverse, language-wise than others. Not that there aren't other languages, but just that fewer people represent different languages.

Some countries speak one language predominantly due to historical, cultural, and political reasons. Language can play a significant role in shaping a nation's identity and unity. Additionally, factors such as colonization, migration, and geographical isolation can contribute to the homogeneity of languages spoken in a country.

The main reason monolingual societies exist is isolation.

There are about 5 countries in the world that are monolingual, and all are tiny islands except for North Korea, which is politically isolated.
Major monolingual countries include:

  1. Iceland (not including the fact that nearly everyone can speak English as a foreign language)
  2. North Korea

There are also about 10 politically dependent territories that are monolingual, including Tristan Da Cunha.
