on a normal pressure (1 atm) water boils on a temperature of 100 C, but when we reduce the pressure, ebullition temperature will be also reduced (it will become less then 100) which means that they can boil more water using less energy

What is regelation?

Regelation refers to melting under pressure as well as freezing under reduced pressure.

Why Glycerin is distilled at reduced pressure?

glycerin is distilled at reduced pressure because it has boiling point of 290 degree celsius under atmospheric pressure it slightly decomposes but under reduced pressure it distills unchanged

Why does the boiling temperature of water decrease when the water is under reduced pressure such as it is in a higher altitude?

Reduced pressure lessens the squeezing of molecules, which favors their tendency to separate and form vapor.

How do plants grow under high atmospheric pressure?

Just fine ... ambient pressure has little effect on plants. The cell wall isolates them well.

What benefit does one obtain by carrying out the distillation under reduced pressure?

lower temperature of "boiling point"

What is formed when swamp plants are buried under pressure for a very long time?

coal

How does soda fizz?

The carbon dioxide (CO2) in carbonated beverages is dissolved in the water under pressure and result in a bubbly fizz which is the CO2 being released as the pressure is reduced.

Why do submerged plants have narrow thin leaves?

Narrow, thin leaves have lower pressure under water.

Describe crude oil?

The plants and animals that existed and lived millions of years ago decompose and overtime are buried under the earth, there they are under pressure. As more and more pressure is applied, they become a fossil fuel.

Plants and animals that lived in the oceans formed the fossil fuel called?

Coal is a solid fossil fuel formed in ancient swamps from the remains of plants and animals under great heat and pressure over millions of years. A liquid fossil fuel formed in oceans from the remains of plants and animals under great heat and pressure of millions of years is called oil.

Is liquid petroleum gas a gas or a liquid?

Under normal temperature and atmospheric pressure conditions propane is gaseous. However, when the temperature is reduced to below −42.09 °C or when it is stored under high pressure (approx 177 psi), it takes the form of a liquid.

What was oil originaly?

Microscopic plants and animals. When they died, they sank to the bottom of the oceans, where they rotted, and under pressure, turned into oil.
