Some parents were raised that way and want to share the experience with their children, but they often send their children away because they need a "vacation" from parenthood.

Summer camp is an option, NOT an obligation. You and your children simply do summer activities you love most.
If your child has shown an interest in summer camp then I would suggest you find one appropriate for their needs. There are many camps to help children with social issues, etc.
get any instrument play it really bad on purpose in front of your parents until they agree to send you to musical camp
Here is one: http://www.fairytalecamp.com/ You should also talk to other parents in your area to find out if any of your children's friends are going to camp. It could be fun to send them together.
personally i wouldn't because freshmen i think are a little to young to hold a camp and i (in my opinion) five is a little to young to go to camp they may become homesick and cry very easily(me and my friends did)

They cannot send you to military boot camp, but they can make arrangements for you to go to a boot camp type experience. Until you reach the age of adulthood, your parents control where you live. If you are not living up to their rules and expectations, they can choose to have you live in a boot camp environment.
Parents send their kids to boot camp because they probably cannot handle their child's behavior and they need someone else to put them back into shape and have them become a mature adult.
Sending a child to boot camp is up to a parents discretion. Most parents try that as a last resort.
