because they don't like to spend money and go in debt. Christmas to some people mean they have to buy presents for everyone. and then have to pay their credit cards all year to pay for them.
Becasue they may be forced to spend 2-3 days with in-laws or people they don't particularly like and people they normally may not hang out with
