Best Answer

because the particles are closer together so the vibrations are able to pass through them faster where as in gasses the particles are very spaced out so it takes longer to pass through the gas

How Sounds travel through solids liquids and gas?

sound is made up of vibrations, and so you hear sound as the vibrations travel through the particles of solids liquids and gases.

What sounds travel through gas?

sound passes thro' different media which are generally solids, liquids and gases

Does sound travel slower through air solids or liquids?

Sounds travels slowest in air and fastest in solids. Generally, sound travels faster through materials of higher densities.

Do sound waves travel best through solids liquids gases or vacuums?

Sounds can't travel through a vacuum, it requires a medium (something to travel through). It can travel through the rest but the best is gases because the particles are more spaced out, unlike solids and liquids which are more closely packed.

About speed of sounds in different media?

the speed of sound depends on the material through which it's passing. it is greater in solids than in liquids or gases because the molecules in a solid are closer togather than in a liquid or gas.Material Speed m/sAir(0°C) 330Water 1400Concrete 5000Steel 6000"compression-type" sound will travel faster in solids than in liquids, and faster in liquids than in gases, because the solids are more difficult to compress than liquids, while liquids in turn are more difficult to compress than gases.

Does sound travels through air?

We are in air, and we can hear each other. Thus, sound can travel in air.Yes. A sound wave can travel through air (gases), liquids, and solids.

Sounds move faster in these media?

The media that sound moves faster in order are solids, then liquids, and then gases or air. Sound cannot travel in a vacuum because it is a vibration of molecules.

How do animals produce transmit and receive sound?

They produce sounds deliberately by using structures that vibrate as air is passed through them. Transmission is a natural physical process - sounds travel though air, liquids and solids. They receive sounds when the transmitted sound reaches them and is channeled into body structures where sensory fibers are caused to vibrate.

Do sounds travel faster throw liquid?

no sound travels faster through solids.

A sound wave travels equal distances through air water and aluminum. Which medium will it move through in the shortest time?

Aluminum

Can s-waves travel through liquid?

P-waves are type of elastic wave, also called seismic waves, that can travel through gases (such as sounds), elastic solids and liquids, including the Earth. P-waves can be produced by earthquakes and recorded by seismometers. The name P-wave stands for primary wave, as the P-wave is the fastest among the elastic waves, compared to the S-waves.(Sources Wikipedia). Hope that helps! :D

What material does sounds not travel well through?

Sound doesn't travel through any gases very well, Sound travels 10 times faster and much further (about 20Km) in liquids, and sound travels even better in solids as particles are closer together. Just so you know, sound DOES NOT travel through a vacuum (e.g space).
