The answer seems fairly obvious to me. Many students lack confidence in their ability to succeed in hard subjects. They may also be lazy or poorly motivated and want to be able to spend as little time as possible on school work.
For some few, it may just be a co-incidence that the subjects they find most interesting are easy, at least for them. It is probably best to concentrate on something that you are really good at and like, rather than choosing something that you dislike just because it is in demand, so far as jobs are concerned. On the other hand, do not reject a subject just because it is hard.
I believe we should be choosing our subjects

Some subjects are relevant to all students (like English, math, basic science, basic health, writing, history, geography, etc), and some subjects are relevant for some students and not others (like home ec., advanced math, advanced science, auto mechanics, etc.). Since students get to choose their classes, except for subjects that are relevant to all students, they can choose those that are relevant to them.
It contains basic primary concepts of other subjects that are viable for primary students. It's very much comprehensive and easy to understand.

In France, students must study subjects like French language, mathematics, science, history, geography, civic education, physical education, and an additional foreign language. There are also elective courses available for students to choose from.
Complementary courses in public schools typically refer to subjects beyond the core curriculum that students can choose to take alongside their required courses. These courses can include art, music, physical education, or other elective subjects. Option courses refer to additional subjects that students can choose from based on their interests or career goals, such as advanced math, science, or language courses.

Students in France have the same subjects in school as students in the UK or USA, with the exception that their literature class is a French literature class as opposed to an English literature class. French students take: French, History & Geography, Math, Science, Foreign Language, Art Courses, Music, etc. Of course, a French Student will choose a specific course in those disciplines, like Statistics, Calculus, or Computer Science under the umbrella of math.
University students could choose from a wide selection of subjects during the 14th century, including geometry, astronomy, music theory, logic, and rhetoric.
