To deflect projectiles, thus allowing it to advance forward. This is the definition of a tank: Gun & Armor. Remove the gun; it becomes an armored personnel carrier. Remove the armor; it becomes a self propelled gun (artillery). Retain the gun & armor; it is a tank.
There's a few different types of armour used on tanks. Older tanks still in service (such as the M48, M60, Centurion, Chieftain, T54/T55, T62, T72, etc.) tend to used rolled homogeneous steel armour, while more modern tanks may be prone to using composite armour (such as Chobham armour), which may include mixtures of metals and ceramics. Additionally, Explosive Reactive Armour may be applied to the outside of tanks - this is an explosive designed to detonate when a warhead impacts it, and counteracts the effects of the warhead.
it is mainly used in the army for the armour of tanks i hope this helps
modern tanks are better than ww1 tanks in every way there faster have better armour better weapons one of the main differences is that modern tanks have a rotating turret
A tank is traked armour combat vehicle design to engage eneimies head on; fire a large calibre shell, heavy armour to protect for RPGs, other armour vechicle, and support the infantry.
Leopard tanks can be destroyed from the air too. Brimstone, hellfire and maverick are some examples of missiles which are able to pierce the leopard armour.
tanks helped to break the stalemate that trench warfare created. They were also good at attacking trenches because bullets just bounced off the armour
Mustard gas, Tanks, Airplanes
In general, no, although they did first develop sloping armour for tanks.
they have body armour, tanks, an army of 30 billion, and plenty of guns. what do you think, bozo?
The collective noun for armour is a suit of armour (or suits of armour, if applicable).

As with most military games AP= Armour piercing and HE= High Explosive. AP is good at punching through most heavy armour (Tanks, APC's etc) while HE is more suited to lightly armoured vehicles (Jeeps, Hummers, Transport vehicles) & buildings. For dealing with infantry you would need HE Frag rounds, or HE phosphous rounds etc for a less concentrated blast radius.
