Teens rebel because they want to be independent it's a natural instinct they are halfway between making their own decisions and not being able to. They are their own person. Even though you will try and stop them they will choose which way they want to go anyways. It is their choice of which way they want to pick. You want to stop them from making those mistakes but in the end they will learn one way or another. Still keep boundaries and guidelines but in the end they are the ones you make the decision.
It is part of the process of finding their own identity in preparation for the time for when they go out on their own and find their own way in life.
