calipers can lock up for more than one reason. first reason is dirt and grime in the caliper and pistons.next ,if the brake pads are worn,the pistons can travel to far when brakes applied, leaving room for the pistons to come out of alignment and not be able to retract when brakes are released the brake caliper itself may be faulty. if this needs replacing, it is better to buy a balanced and matched pair and replace both rear at same time so if the problem is not at the caliper, it can be any one of a number of valves or even the master cylinder. generally you would discount the master cylinder unless all brakes were sticking

From your question im assuming that you have rear disk brakes so use a C clamp to press the pistons back down, if it is too difficult use the bleeder valve at the back of the caliper to release the pressure. Remember to bleed the brakes when you are done if you do this though

dodge brakes are east to change remove wheel remove 2 bolts on rear side of caliper. lift caliper out of the way do not let it hang by brake fluid hose. using a G clamp , bush caliper pistons back into caliper. lay an old brake pad across the pistons to sit the g clamp on the brake pads will be against rotor. remve old pads, install new,pads making sure to use anti rattle clips at top and bottom. reinstall rotor. reinstall bolts.replace wheel pump brakes a couple of times to seat the new pads.

Same as the front except don't try to compress the caliper. remove the cap that is in back and loosen with an Allen wrenchAfter you've installed the pads and put the caliper back on, retighten that screw in the back of the caliper with the Allen wrench until it is tight again, then back it off a quarter turn. This is to readjust the brakes. If you don;t do this the brakes will be really mushy.AddendumThere is no Allen key or bolt to undo (unlike a Saab 9000). Instead, when the pads have been removed, you need to turn the caliper piston to retract it.Use a pair of pliers direct on the piston and turn clockwise to retract. This works!
