If the egg has fail being turned the chick may have great difficulty getting out of the egg and can even suffocate if no help is given to aid the chicken in hatching when the egg has never been turned.

∙ 13y agoContrary to what many first time breeders believe, turning the eggs does not involve a complete flip of the egg from one end to the other.
Turning simply means to move the egg 180 degrees from one side to the other.
Eggs must be set with the small or pointed end down. The widest or fat end of the egg must be at the highest elevation. Turning means moving the egg left 90 degrees, again left 90 degrees for a total of 180 then right 90 degrees, then right again 90 degrees for a reversal of that first 180 degrees.
Turning should be done about every 4 to 6 hours. The eggs must never have the small end pointing up.

∙ 12y agoYes, I had chicken eggs and you have to rotate them at least 3 times a day (always turn an ODD number of times) . I did that and 8 of my 10 hatched! Good Luck
