Is there still a Sherlock Holmes show?

The Sherlock Holmes TV Show which is considered the best finished years ago after the actor who portrayed Holmes, Jeremy Brett passed away. There is at least 1 Sherlock Holmes TV show on at the moment. It's called Sherlock. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes and Martin Freeman as Watson. It is a modern adaptation, set in 21st century London. Series 2 will be coming to BBC1 soon. I recommend it. It's very good, some people even think it may be better than the Jeremy Brett version. Also an American TV broadcaster called CBS are planning on making a modern Sherlock Holmes. Obviously they didn't copy the idea at ALL.

How did Sherlock Holmes travel in time?

There's two possibilities: 1. He's a time lord. This could explain how several different actors have portrayed him and they all have a slightly different demeanor. 2. Sherlock Holmes never traveled in time. Where did you even get that idea? Honestly what is going on in your mind? Are you getting mixed up because BBC's Sherlock takes place in modern times, or that the less interesting CBS show Elementary did the same things Sherlock did but made much more bland? Did they not make it perfectly clear that those shows do not depict the real Sherlock Holmes? Both of them are modern adaptations of the classic novels, (But BBC's Sherlock is much more faithful.)

What did Watson do before he joined Sherlock Holmes?

Dr. John H. Watson was an army doctor in the second Afghan war (1878-1880). In the BBC series, he was an army doctor in the British Army in modern day Afghanistan before he joined Holmes.

How does Sherlock Holmes conform to the generic conventions of a superhero?

He doesn't. Sherlock Holmes has no superhuman abilities.Holmes used science to solve his crimes, modern day forensics. In a Victorian age, this would have been seen as a superhuman capability to solve crimes throw blood matching, chemistry and fingerprints. He did not have superhuman powers but had capabilities that did not conform to Victorian conventions of the police detectives of the time.

How was the reappearance of Sherlock Holmes explained?

In "The Adventure of the Empty House" (in the collection "The Return of Sherlock Holmes") Sherlock Holmes explains to Watson what happened at the Reichenbach Falls, where he and Professor Moriarty supposedly died. I recommend reading the story (it's on the Internet if you can't get to your public library) but, to rush over it : Mr. Holmes used a technique of Japanese martial arts he called baritsu to overpower the Professor. Moriarty went over the falls. Holmes managed to elude Moriarty's number two man, Col. Moran, and flee. He told Watson that he travelled to Lhasa (sp?) [I believe its in modern Nepal], then spent time in France doing chemical research before returning to England to put away Col. Moran.

Where did Sherlock Holmes die?

In the books and most movies, Prof. Moriarty (his arch nemesis) and Holmes fall off the Reichenbach Falls. Sherlock survives, but Moriarty dies. The only reason Conan Doyle killed him off was because he grew tired of the character and the series, and it was distracting him from other projects. He brought back Sherlock Holmes because fans of Holmes got angry and forced Conan Doyle to bring him back. In the BBC modern-day adaptation of Sherlock, Moriarty tells Sherlock that he will kill Sherlock's friends is Sherlock does not kill himself. This exchange occurs on top of St. Bartholomew's Hospital. Moriarty shoots himself in the head, and then Sherlock jumps to his apparent death. At the very end of the episode, it is shown that Sherlock is still alive.

How would you recognize Sherlock Holmes?

Well first off I must say that Sherlock Holmes is not actually a real person, he is a fictional character. but to the point of answering your question, the Victorian Holmes, you would either find him in his book status (neat hair, long face, dear stalker, pipe, ALWAYS with a revolver, and in a rather nice suit) in the film Sherlock Holmes you would find him ( rather scruffy hair, braces crossed over his chest, ALWAYS with a revolver or if he is in a resterant a scruffy suit) very sorry about spelling!. now if it was the modern BBC tv series, (nice suit, no tie, ALWAYS has a revolver, scruffy hair) hope this helped

Is the character of Sherlock Holmes in the TV Series Sherlock similar to how he was in the books?

I personally think so. Both Gatiss and Moffat (the writers and creators) admitted to strongly basing the show off the books. They wanted to have it resemble it as closely as possible in the modern setting. Many of the actors also read the books in order to resemble the original characters.
