they call it Duct Tape bc the dude that invented it was named that!

duck tape is a vinyl, reinforced, multipurpose pressure sensitive tape with a soft and flexible shell and pressure sensitive adhesive. is generally silver or black in color but many other colors have recently became available. Duct tape was originally developed during World War 2 in 1942 as a water resistant sealing tape for ammunition cases. permacel, then a division of Johnson & Johnson used a rubber based adhesive to help the tape resit water and fabric backing to add strength. it was also used to repair military equipment quickly likes jeeps. guns, even aircraft because of these properties.

in military circles, this variant is know as gun tape it was a typically olive green and also know for its resistance to oils and greases.it was also called riggers tape hurricane tape or 100 mph tape for is legend that it could hold up to 100mph

It was originally made for repairing holes in ducts. Who the heck has the last name 'Duct?'

But duct tape is useless on ducts. The heat dries the glue and it falls off. How many BTU's have been lost due to this false labeling?
