Why do things that contain mercury need to be placed in a special area?

It needs to be placed in a special place because it can cause extreme brain damage, kidney failure and affects the nervous system. It is the most potent neurotoxin known to man and there is no other chemical that cause so severe brain damage!
Also, it is harmful to the environment. The amount of Mercury found in a thermometer is enough to pollute a small lake! I can mutate animals for generations.
Toxicity of mercury has been linked to many different diseases including autism, learning disabilities, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, lupus, chronic fatigue syndrome, Arthritis, depression and Bipolar disorder.
