Not everyone blames God. Those who do blame God blame him for different things. Some blame him for (1) everything that goes wrong, others might blame him for (2) some of the things that afflict us, or others, as individuals, or for (3) sad events that have befallen groups of people at certain times, or for (4) things that have soured the entire 'human existence' from time immemorial.
Those who believe that everything that happens is part of God's script or plan, logically blame things on that supernatural deity because 'he/she/it ' must have organised and pre-ordained it. Of course, some feel that life, with all its pleasures and all its pains, is just how it is, and we just have to make the best of it, and take it as it comes.
Some blame God for the bad things that people do, reasoning that, if God made us, then he is responsible for what we do.
Some blame God as an excuse for their own sins or laziness.
Some feel that there must be someone who is ultimately responsible for everything that happens, even for every random or chance event that happens. If anyone is to blame, then it can only be God, they reason. Finally, if we do indeed blame God, we should be asking ourselves, "What exactly are we blaming God for?". If we can focus on more specific facts and instances, and on the circumstances that contributed to those events, then we might find that we are better able to understand why some (if not all!) bad things happen.
Of course, the whole matter hangs on the fundamental concepts/issues of 'good and evil', and of 'god' and/or the 'supernatural'. Such questions have been considered for thousands of years and, as yet, mankind has yet to come up with a universal answer that everyone can agree upon.

Does God forgive mental illness?
It depends on your religious beliefs but if you believe in a god then he/she/it gave you it, or at least did not prevent you from getting it. Therefore he/she/it cannot blame you for contracting it.
