It is physically impossible to "expand" your stomach in order to eat more. However, you can starve for a day before Thanksgiving, so that during Thanksgiving you will be extremely hungry.
Why not? Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks, not about proper food and what to eat and what not to eat. I see no reason why not to, if people don't like it tell them to be grateful that they are eating at all... ps. fried chicken is also good so yes, appropriate ;)

Turkish people don't celebrate 'thanksgiving''.They celebrate the coming new year at the night of 31st December by preparing lots of dishes because Turkish cuisine is so delicious and of course they eat Turkey as well..
