Saint Patrick's Day began as a Catholic observance. In the Catholic Church, a saint's feast day is celebrated only once per year. It is also usually on the anniversary of their death---in other words, when they entered Heaven. They have to make guesses with the saints' death dates that they don't actually know, like St. James or the Blessed Virgin.
No, they are not only the shamrock: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Must be an American thing. "Luck of the Irish" etc.
Christmas greeting cards only celebrate Christmas because it only comes around once a year. Therefore, they only celebrate the important holiday that makes us happy.
No, that' s not true. Greeks celebrate only one birthday as all the rest of the world. Although Greeks have another personal celebration: each of them they celebrate his personal name the day that the corresponding saint is celebrated. For example if your name is Νίκος (Nick), then except for your birthday, you also celebrate at 6 of December, because that day saint Nicolas is celebrated in Greece. Although if your name is an ancient greek (for example Αθηνά - Atheena) and there is no saint with this name, then you don' t have a second feast, but only your birthday.
Christmas
I can think of only one saint who never sinned - the Blessed Virgin Mary.
St Patricks day is the Irish National Day and Leprechauns are only found in Ireland, people therefore dress up like Leprechauns on that day. Of course they can't really look like Leprechauns because the tallest of them is only 18inches and the smallest not less than 14 inches.
Most saint feast days celebrate the rebirth of the saint into heaven - the day they died. Only two celebrate their earthly birth:June 24 - Nativity of St. John the BaptistSeptember 8 - Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
