DC series motors run on DC power. Homes have AC power, not DC power. You could use DC motors in homes if you have a power supply or use a battery, but it is usually more cost effective to use an AC motor.

AC supply is generated using alternators, which convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. This process involves rotating a coil within a magnetic field, inducing an alternating current due to electromagnetic induction. Power plants typically use turbines driven by steam, water, or wind to turn the alternators, producing the AC electricity that is then distributed through power lines for use in homes and businesses. Additionally, inverters can convert DC (direct current) from sources like solar panels into AC supply.
Radios use DC power supplies to operate. If a radio is powered from a mains AC supply, a power supply circuit will convert the AC supply to DC. Therefore, a radio may have both a DC and an AC power input but ultimately, the internal circuitry will always use DC.
Both ac and dc current are used in our homes. But only low frequency (50 or 60 Hz) ac current is furnished by the power company. Electrical devices in our homes that require dc current usually have built in ac to dc rectifiers. we get electricity into home from main power supply as AC current.according to our electrinic devices select what type of current is suitable for it.for example,Ac power supply used to Tetevision, computers etc.Inside the devices,AC current convert into DC current.
Jim use dc supply in oscillator circuits to and ac out put.
It is dc but a small attached converter can make it ac for home use
There are less loss occurs when we use DC supply than AC supply, because the frequency is zero in DC, so no Inductance & Capacitance exists. And there is no skin effect in the DC systems, so there is low resistance as compared to AC systems.Rac = 1.25*Rdcfrom Arun Kumar SRR
Yes, an amplifier can be operated on ac supply.
We deliver power on the power grid as an AC voltage. That's alternating current, and that's what is available in your home.
For a simple electro-magnet use a DC supply.
